I'm Back.

I wanted to let everyone know that I am back from the mountains. My dad and I were on a hunting/backpacking trip and we had a great time. 5 days and 6 nights in the wilderness, with only a backpack full of your gear is truly an amazing experience. Here are a few of the pictures from the trip...

The mountains of Colorado are really beautiful.

My dad looking for some elk.

Sometimes it is great to get close to your subject.

I really love this shot, night photography can be very rewarding.

We had a full moon which made for some cool light.

Again, great scenery.

Sunset in black and white.

Me and my dad after 6 days of backpacking, I needed a shower.

A few pictures from Rachel and Ryan's Wedding.

Here are just a few pictures that we captured at Rachel and Ryan's wedding.

This chapel was very large and had some very cool architecture. I was lucky enough to be in the balcony to get this shot of Rachel coming down the aisle with her dad.

Jess got this shot of Rachel waiting for people to come in. I really love this shot, Jess has such an incredible eye for photographs.

Jess got this shot as well. The beach chair makes you think we were in Mexico, but we were in Colorado Springs. Jess is incredibly creative and she loves shoes...

I met Ronald today.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Ronald today; he was the man who bagged my groceries at King Soopers. I said "thanks Ronald, have a great day." And he said oh don't worry I will. He then gave me some free advice; he told me to be happy with everyday that you have and he said "don't ever complain because it could be worse." He proceeded to tell me that he was in a serious car accident years ago and then spent the next year mad at the man who caused the accident. He said it wasn't worth it and that he wasted a whole year of his life.

He then told me that he also currently has cancer; but he didn't worry much about it. He thought working may help him get better. All I can say is that he was about the most content and happiest person I have met in a long time. He was probably 75 or 80, happy, smiling and willing to serve others. Not a bad way to live.

I try to step out of my own world everyday to get to know a perfect stranger; and let people inspire and teach me something. We get so wrapped up in our own lives that we forget to take the time to get to know the man bagging our groceries, or the bank teller, or the cashier at the gas station. So try and take that time because you just might meet Ronald.

Erin is Graduating!

Jessica's cousin Erin is graduating from high school this year and we had so much fun taking senior pictures for her. We went to her Dad's office and then to the softball field to get some pictures of her; her and her friend, and her and her sister. Erin and her sister Megan are defending state softball champs so we had to get some pictures with her softball gear. Jessica's aunt Janice is one of our most faithful blog readers so I know she will be so excited to see her daughter's pictures here. Thanks guys for letting us take Erin's senior pictures, and thanks for dinner. Here are a few of our favorites...

Daniel is Graduating!

We took some senior portraits for my cousin Daniel yesterday and we were lucky enough to just beat a heavy rainstorm. The storm clouds made for some cool lighting and we got some great shots. I can't believe that Daniel is going to be a senior, it makes me feel kind of old (even though I am still pretty young.) Here are two of our favorites, enjoy...

Michael and Ellice's Wedding

I had the great pleasure to photograph a wedding for Michael and Ellice yesterday at the Donovan Pavilion in Vail, Colorado. They are a great couple and had a wonderful ceremony with all kinds of wonderful traditions. There was dancing, good food, cute kids and a lot of fun; all make for a great wedding. I also brought my sister Sarah along to help me photograph the day and we had so much fun together. It was her first official photography job and she captured some great moments. Here are a few of our favorite pictures, enjoy...

This was a great candid moment that Sarah caught.

Rachel and Ryan's Wedding

We just got home from Rachel and Ryan's wedding and we had such an amazing time. They are an amazing couple and you can just tell that they are totally in love, and perfect for each other. We had the opportunity to work with some great other vendors as well. Dan with Celebration Station was the DJ, he was actually the DJ at our own wedding and is great at what he does. Gary was the minister and performed a wonderful ceremony at the Shove Chapel. Then onto the reception that the Sheraton in Colorado Springs. It was a great weekend, and we are so happy for Rachel and Ryan.

A short backpacking trip

My dad and I went on a short backpacking trip this past weekend near Fairplay, CO. We camped at about 12,500 feet and it reminded me that I need to get in better shape. We had quite a bit of rain, and some incredible fog that kept rolling in and out; luckily we were able to find our way back to the tent on Saturday night. Here are a few pictures that I took while we were up there...

This was the view from where we camped.

There were some cool rocks all over the place.

I'm not sure how this stump got there, because there weren't any trees around.

The fog and clouds started to roll in so we headed back to our tent.

We were lucky enough to be able to still see our tent.

My dad leading the way.

Freeze-dried lasagna for dinner, very tasty.

The view the next morning.

This was the perfect time for wildflowers in the mountains.

My requisite "dorky thumbs up" self-portrait.
