Backpacking in the Weminuche Wilderness

This past week my friends Jon (who has some great pictures and videos on his blog), Greg, Brian and I spent 5 days and 4 nights backpacking in the Weminuche Wilderness. We'd been planning the trip for about 6 months so it was awesome when it finally came together. The Weminuche Wilderness is in Southwest Colorado and we actually took the Durango & Silverton Train to and from the trailheads. The area is incredible. We spent some time on the Colorado Trail and the Continental Divide Trail, we crossed a bunch of streams and creeks and saw literally hundreds of waterfalls. This was during our hike up the Elk Creek drainage to the intersection of the Continental Divide and Colorado Trails. It really was an awesome day of hiking.

This was our hike up to the top. There were a bunch of switchbacks so it looks like some of us are coming and going.

Even though the goat looks majestic, they were actually all over our camp and somewhat of a nuisance.




There were so many waterfalls everywhere that it was hard to take a bad picture.

I feel so lucky and blessed to have the time to spend with my friends in such an amazing place.
